Tonka Bean
Warm, smooth and irresistibly comforting, tonka bean brings a rich sweetness and velvety depth to a fragrance. Tonka beans come from the seeds of the cumaru tree, which is native to tropical South America, particularly the Amazon region. Their distinctive aroma combines soft vanilla-like sweetness with gentle almond, caramel and lightly spiced nuances. At Abbey Perfumery, we use vanilla and other naturally rich ingredients such as tonka bean to add warmth, creaminess and a subtle gourmand richness. These oils can naturally deepen in colour over time, sometimes making a perfume appear darker (they can even appear red), but this doesn’t affect the quality of the fragrance – it’s simply part of the natural character of these beautiful ingredients.
