There are plenty of rules when it comes to perfume.

This one is for women.
You need to know your fragrance family.

But honestly? We’re not sure we agree.

At Abbey Perfumery, we believe perfume should be personal. It should make you smile when you spray it, bring back a favourite memory, lift your mood on a difficult day or simply make you feel a little bit more like you.

That's our inspiration for our brand.

Perfume should be for everyone

We’ve never understood why perfume needs a gender label.

If you love roses, wear roses. If you love smoky oud, wear smoky oud. If you want something fresh and citrusy one day and rich and spicy the next, go for it.

Your perfume should suit you, not a category on a shelf.

Our fragrances are unisex because we’d rather talk about the ingredients, the personality of a scent and, most importantly, how it makes you feel.

No rules. No labels. Just beautiful perfume.

We want perfume to be fun

Choosing a new fragrance can sometimes feel a little intimidating.

There are fragrance families, top notes, heart notes, base notes and enough perfume terminology to make your head spin.

And while we love all the fascinating detail that goes into creating a perfume, you don't need to be an expert to enjoy one.

Maybe you simply love the smell of freshly cut grass.

Perhaps coffee is your happy place.

Maybe you’re drawn to rose petals, warm vanilla, citrus fruits or the smell of the woods after rain.

Those little things can tell you a lot.

And sometimes, the perfume you fall in love with will be the one you never expected.

That’s the fun of discovering fragrance.

We believe in quality over quantity

When we created our collection, we didn’t want to make perfume for the sake of making more perfume.

We wanted to create fragrances that people would genuinely want to wear.

Our collection of 12 perfumes has been carefully designed to offer something for every kind of perfume lover—from deep, dark and smoky scents to warm woods, bright florals and fresh, uplifting fragrances.

We’ve also worked hard to create fragrances with excellent longevity, because nobody wants to apply their favourite perfume in the morning only for it to disappear by lunchtime.

We want you to apply your fragrance and enjoy it throughout your day.

We believe in trying before committing

Perfume is personal.

Something that smells incredible on your friend might smell completely different on your skin. And something you thought you wouldn't like might turn out to be your new favourite.

That’s why we don’t think choosing a perfume should feel like a gamble.

Our Discovery Boxes are a great way to find yourself a new fragrance. Choosing a gift for someone else? Our Perfume Library was created to take the gamble out of choosing a perfume for someone else. It gives them the chance to try everything and choose their favourite for themselves.

We care about what goes into our perfumes

Our products are vegan and cruelty-free, and what's more, they're all handmade by us in our Derbyshire workshop.

We make sure our ingredients are vegan friendly and we do not test on animals. We are also proud to say that our products are paraben and phthalate free.

We’re trying to do better

We’re not going to pretend we have everything figured out when it comes to sustainability.

But we care about it.

We hate unnecessary plastic and have worked hard to reduce it wherever we can.  Our packaging is recyclable, and when we send your order, we use paper filling material that can be composted or recycled. 

We source all our ingredients and packaging from as close to home as possible. Every decision is a conscious choice, and we choose sustainability over margin.

We're always looking for ways to improve, because we believe doing something well doesn't mean you stop looking for ways to do it better.

Most of all, we want to make people smile

This is probably the simplest way to explain our mission.

Abbey Perfumery was born during a strange and difficult time, when the world needed a little more joy. Perfume has always had the ability to do that.

A familiar scent can spark a memory of a loved one, a place, or a moment.

A new fragrance can change your mood.

And sometimes, putting on your favourite perfume for absolutely no reason other than because you feel like it is enough.

That's what Abbey Perfumery is about.
